my old kingdom hall has the watchtower logo built into the brick work on the side that faces the road - to me for a hall that is supposed to be dedicated to god, its a bit wrong to have a corporation logo on the side of it.
maybe its there to show they and not the congregation own it???

were you "fortunate" enough to be part of the "in crowd" or were you a spectator??
?
As the son of a single mother (in the 'truth') it was pretty hard to be in the in crowd. The only way would have been to distance myself from my mother and become a yes man, working twice as hard to kiss ass than elders sons. That type of clique I wanted no part of.

i was thinking about that 'pesky little comma' that the jws have in their nwt.. because of that pesky little mark, jws are able to twist and turn in the wind with their 'soul' doctrine.. did jesus say to the evildoer 'truly i tell you today, you will be with me in paradise.'.
or did he say 'truly i tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.'.
what a difference a little speck can make on a page!.
I do enjoy your posts Gill! The way i see it, did Jesus say any of it? Ok assuming he did, what is this paradise? Whether he meant today or in the future, what is the paradise? If its with Jesus then is that Heaven? If it was earthly then how come he didnt utter a word of it till this dying moment? I've really got to the point that how do we know who did what so many years ago and whether its even true?

comments you will not hear at the 11-26-06 wt study (october 15, 2006, pages 18-23)(honorable weddings).
review comments will be in red.
quotes from other sources will be in quotes boxes.
Well i'm a bit late replying to your comments, but one word comes to mind after reading it: Pharisees!
I dont get how they say one thing and do another? It must be a complete mindfield knowing just exactly what you can and cant do in a situation. I also note the negative tone used when it comes to things they dont like - such as large gatherings with alcohol, and yet quote the fact that Jesus went to one such gathering! The keep saying pay back to Ceasar, but Ceasar doesnt require couple's to be legally wed here in the UK, so why is it not ok to just have the wedding talk at the KH? In fact if you read the Bible you realise none of that is necessary, just take your girlfriend back to your home to live with you and all is well.
This talking out of both sides of their mouths was one of the first things that lead me on the way out of the Borg - keep it up WTS!

im sitting here today thinking:.
"my daughter should have had open heart surgery years ago and she would have been too young to know anything about it.
instead, she is about to face it now....the surgeons were relectant to do it when we were jws and she was so young.
While i'm in a negative frame of mind right now its easy to say yes they have ruined my life, and to be fair it has caused a lot of pain in my life. But i dont think one can say I didnt get all the breaks and thats why i'm in my current situation. I've made choices, some things have come my way and other things havn't. To say its JW's that have ruined my life isnt probably the case, its more likely that my personality is one that subconsciously chose a path in life and i'm the only one who can look back and say I did good or I did bad. I accept that one can be duped/tricked/manipulated but i'm free of those things as far as the JW's are concerned, now I have to see where I will go on from here - perhaps a little wiser and maybe more cynical. Either way its been an experience that i've learned from and has made me who I am today. I cant wish things had been different, I can only deal with realities. The day I say they have ruined my life is that day i give up.

if you got fired from your job, what would you do first?
live off your savings?
sell your house?
I also have this looming, first I panic, then I try and see what else i can do when I have little or no qualifications, I have a few options such as find other work and/or reduce my outgoings. Although when living life with an under current of depression, this could be a good opportunity for life to change and maybe for the better, so I try to put a possitive spin on things.

january 15th watchtower 2007 'remaining steadfast when a child rebels'.
'when discipline is severe'.
'if your child is unrepentant and is a baptized christian, he may receive the strongest form of discipline - being disfellowhipped from the congregation.
The article said:
by supporting the efforts of the shephers, you will remain solid in the faith and will provide the best help for your child.
I fail to see how this is the best help for a child? Surely at this time of their growth, this could damage them for the rest of their lives. I guess if some kids do respond to this blackmail, perhaps the fear of letting this happen again might keep them in, but not happy.

here's the situation.
there's this girl at work who i've been kidding around with for a couple months.
we laugh and joke and i thought we were pretty good friends.
So what happened did you see her on Tuesday? I think the best advice has been given already - just be yourself, sure you can always learn to do things better but dont take the attitude that you are doing something wrong. Asking someone out on a date can be daunting at times - afterall your ego can be bruised, but I guess the thing is to pick yourself up and try again. Look around you and you see there are so many couple's, its possible for anyone. I'm between relationships as I speak, so I can empathise with you on your self analysis.
